I have no opinion on this case. And I think it's absurd to form an opinion based upon a couple minutes of video tape. How much do you know about legality/morality of something like a policeman using a chokehold? How much do you know on what constitutes a chokehold? How much do you know about this man's medical history and condititions, and how those may have affected the situation? Did you learn all of these things from watching the video?
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Well I know that the use of chokeholds was banned in the nypd as of 1993. I'm pretty sure the officer involved was trained post 1993. I guess I can't be sure, but I'm willing to make that assumption. I also know that when you put your arm around someone's neck and hold it there, that should qualify as a chokehold. Or does it need to conform to some jujitsu dojo standard for form and grip?
As far as his medical conditions, I really don't know. I'm pretty sure we all have a dependency on oxygen though. And police officer or not, if someone has been pinned to the ground and no longer poses a threat to yourself or others and is begging you to let him breath, the moral thing to do would be to allow him to breath. I guess that's probably just due to my lack of knowledge about how long he could hold his breath though.
