I had already read this thread yesterday, when I got my /tell last night. It was promptly ignored, but thought I would share it's pretty rampant. People(s) be really busy with this.

Trolling as commonly known on the webs has been around long before the webs. Spreading "gossip" about others is pretty much the same thing before the webs, but on the internet with anonymity, they can be much more aggressive/flagrant with the BS to get faster or more exaggerated responses. Spread lies, misinformation, and or generally just pushing someone's personal "buttons" to watch the reactions and get their own nasty satisfaction they caused it. Sometimes it's related to "payback" or just griefing someone, sometimes the person is the type that just gets satisfaction from causing general social mayhem and getting to watch it play out with no personal vendetta at all. Some people are just toxic in that way, and in real life they have to face consequences when their lies catch up to them. The webs... makes it really easy.

Not to be confused with bullying. (I mention cause recently the web reporters have been aflame with grouping it all under "cyber bully".

Bully = "Your stupid and fat!"

Troll = "Billy told everyone your stupid and fat." (when he did not.)
