I think we had eyes on the Charlatan corpse rotting. I don't know who would fork over 1 million blue plat + kill Lhranc for him. Really I don't know anyone who would/could do those things for him as a buyer. So TRIED to sell I believe is the appropriate wording.
I don't know why he couldn't wait a few days until we could do it for him.
