Burgerking I'm assuming you didn't play in classic, that comment about Tigir's Insects is very telling.
All slow spells are MR based, disease based slows weren't introduced until Luclin and Planes of Power. At some point (pretty sure post-Velious), you could cure any slow with Cure Disease, even the MR based slows. However in classic, slows do not have disease counters and can only be removed with the dispel line.
Tigir's was always a Magic Resist check, it's removed with dispel in classic and cure disease post-classic. Same with Turgur's and the rest.
Regarding Poison Blast, I don't remember using it much in Velious but I wasn't on a pvp server. However, a lot of spells have changed over the years, and I'd trust the spdat from the expansion CDs and Lucy's spell history over someone who thinks Tigir's Insects should check versus disease.
