Cecily is correct, the Monk post from 2000 alludes to this as well. Pre-Kunark or mid-Kunark sneak broke it. But that was changed, and throwing shouldn't break sneak.
And I dunno what trolling I did, I didn't think this was classic. So I went to investigate on that end. And I think pathing in EQ is a pretty static thing (in that they didn't change it too much). If anything they improved it to be more logical. But as that live video shows, he should charge you directly, not take a pleasant 15 second detour.
