When you are around 12 go to Wisp Island (boat stops there on the way to Odus). Kill wisps and save the Greater Lightstones. You can turn them in to the gypsy in NK for about 10p each (might be 12p, I don't remember exactly).

My mage is killing wisps at level 8, with the fire pet - you should tear through them at 12.
