Defining a start point is not as difficult as you think. It's done in VP to great effect and for every class C mob. In VP we basically said, pullers can't be off the blue pad. It took about 2 minutes to decide on that, both guilds agreed. There's been no creeping or evolution beyond that rule, and everyone seems happy with it. Just find a boundary and agree upon it so all racers are in more or less the same spot.
