Create your own shortcut:
right click eqgame.exe - > sent to desktop (create shortcut)
Right click your shortcut, click properties.
I'm going to assume you are running windows 7 and did NOT install in your program files folder. If you did install in program files, I highly recommend moving it to something like C:\everquest or c:\games\everquest for a number of reasons I won't detail here.
In any case, with the properties box pulled up, look at the Target line. At the end of that line (outside of the quotes, if present) add patchme. For example:
Target: C:\everquest\eqgame.exe patchme
Example2:
Target: "C:\My Games\Everquest\Eqgame.exe" patchme
Note: If there are spaces in your target path, you will need quotations around the path itself, as in the above examples.
Save your shortcut, then go into your AVG control panel and add an exception for dsetup.dll. After you've done this run eqgame.exe and you should be good to go.
Alternatively, I'm told you can skip ALL of these steps by simply disabling AVG, launching the game, then re-enabling it if you want it to still be running.
