What bothers me is the fact that the vast majority of people playing these games are men. Having a 'strong female character' shoved into the next Grand Theft Auto does nothing to enrich my experience. I highly doubt more women would have played GTA San Andreas if CJ were a woman. The vast majority of the violence in these titles is occurring towards other men.
I mean, I don't go on the internet and complain about how Lifetime or The View lacks strong, positive male characters.

Well, I mean.. what you're saying is that you cannot enjoy anything but 1 specific type of content. Which (and I mean no disrespect to you when i say this) is your loss.
That said, most of what she speaks out about is not that hero's should be female, but the violence the designers pick specifically for women that is the problem. You may not even have to have a strong female lead character, but when a woman plays the roll of domestic abuse victim in the background of GTA, or rape victim, it puts thoughts into young girls minds that they are not anything but prey.
Last but not least, the thought that 'women like lifetime' and 'men like gta' is not only justflat out wrong, but its midevil man, its like the fuckn Taliban ffs. These women we like to jump into bed with, are strong, hot, smart, bad ass mamajamas that like football, MMA, guns, fail videos and motorcross just like any of us.
