Red has a more stable, healthy economy than blue.

Rexx touched on a big part of why this is in his post - utility items that need to be purchased like pumices are small, but viable, platinum sinks.

Less people farming less platinum means higher value per PP. There's simply less pp in the economy than there is on blue, which is why most items are cheaper here (~50k fungi vs ~80kfungi on blue). PP being worth more is good for the little guy just starting out. NPC's still drop the same amount of pp, gems, and vendor items, which are the only ways to get platinum circulating into the economy. But because the platinum is worth more, lowbies get more bang for their buck.

tl;dr red has a smaller, more stable economy, which is better for new players who can buy more stuff
