I can enjoy PvP and not want to put up with some of the more extreme bullshit that goes on in OOC. And trying to say that they should just "turn it off" if they don't like it is complete crap. They shouldn't have to go out of their way to get away from that shit. Not being subjected to it should be the norm.
On the one hand people say OOC is required for new players to be able to communicate, but on the other, they should just turn it off if they don't like it?
And being in 3 years of kunark affects players who quit long before reaching Raid levels makes sense how? The majority of players quit sub 50. They never even hit the bottleneck that is the Red 99 raid scene. So who's out of touch here? It's difficult to hear the people at the bottom when you're shouting from the top.
While I agree that there are some people who need to be banned from the server forever, that alone isn't going to fix the box. The communities attitude needs to change for that to happen. As I've stated before that doesn't mean PvP needs to stop. But there's a fundamental attitude on Red99 that has a negative impact on the box - not everyone acts this way, but enough that it keeps the server from growing.
Porz made a thread in blue RnF asking people why they quit Red, and I asked a similar question months back. So did Azure. Here's those three threads for reference:

Also keep in mind that during my time here on staff, ever since becoming a Guide last August, I've spoken to as many people who have quit the server as I could possibly get a hold of, with a focus on the people who left right at or right before 50 (again, the majority of people who quit do so before they hit the end-game). The #1 answer we hear more than anything else is the community sucked. And yes, global ooc contributed to that.
If you want to stick to this attitude of "they need to put up with it or they shouldn't be here!" then fine, but don't be surprised if the box never breaks 200 people.
Those are my thoughts on the subject. You guys can go back and forth over why I'm wrong and why you're right and etc etc, but the bottom line is that is the core of Red99's problem - whether you want to believe it or not.

but whose to say they dont care? If I just started on a new pvp server, and I read the boards, and see all this chatter of cheating going on, and players being able to come back...I would be turned off. instantly. who wants to invest time into a box full of cheaters?????

And what would you think if every 3rd thread said "OMG bAN CHEATERZ RIGHT NOW", "WIPE THIS BOX CLEAN 2014" , "I RMT'd and so and so is shit"
Almost every thread on these boards is either:
A) you guys asking for a wipe or
B) someone complaining about someone else
Why would anyone read these forums and want to play here?
You guys need to focus on
YOU - the community, and stop worrying about wiping the box and getting person001 banned. All the negativity literally does nothing except drive people away. The box is not going to magically improve if person001 gets banned. Because it's such a small population box it's even more important that every single one of you puts your best foot forward and shows new players how much fun red can be. That's something that not enough people are doing right now, and it until it happens, you'll never break 200 people.
Edit2: I'm out for the day. You guys make it almost impossible to give any fucks about this box.
