Yes, Chinese in California seem to have done fine despite being persecuted for over a hundred years and forced to build railroads. Both groups also seem to do fine despite being discriminated against by affirmative action, which was meant to help minorities but actually only helps blacks and hispanics while discriminating against whites, asians, and indians.
You can make all the excuses you want, but that still won't do anything to change the status quo.
By the way, no black person today was ever a slave.
