What did I miss?
1) the cops didn't tell him anything, an operator did
2) according to zimmerman, martin came out of the bushes and initiated the confrontation
3) even if someone questions you unprofessionally and threateningly, you don't have the right to punch them in the face and bash their head against the sidewalk
4) the fact that you say "somehow a fight breaks out" is pretty much all that was needed to acquit -- that's called reasonable doubt
5) "a fight" is a bit of a misnomer. zimmerman was getting pummeled, martin's knuckles were a little worse for the wear
6) you attribute long-standing racial enmity to zimmerman despite significant evidence that he was not a racist and actually served as a mentor to a black youth

you don't have to like zimmerman. he's a fat sissy, sure. his actions contributed to a truly unfortunate death. but according to his story, which is largely corroborated by available evidence, the only thing he's guilty of is being an idiot. there's not even close to sufficient evidence to convict him of murder. he shouldn't have even been charged if not for the cause célèbre
