as someone who grew up on marine bases, i can tell you that barbers have a kind of wax that they use. its sort of lie a stick of deodorant, except its wax. they trim your hair, stand it up with the wax, and then go straight across the top with clippers. kinda funny looking from the top if its short enough.. looks like a horseshoe of hair
