oh, forgot to add this. to elaborate a bit on how commonly its believed the two species mated, literally every human in existence has some level of neanderthal DNA. in fact, certain diseases like type 2 diabetes, lupus, and crohns are associated with the vestigial neanderthal DNA that we all possess. the % of neanderthal DNA varies from individual to individual, but its consistently there in some form. its influence varies depending on the % present and the particular structure of the body (skin typically having the most, while reproductive organs have the least. sometimes none at all).
