Most people are not frothing about this - they're pointing out the hypocrisy of doing something using classic as an excuse, but willfully ignoring other things that fall under the same reasoning.
This was a silly change when there are actual, real things to be working on.

I'll confess to feeling these exact same emotions at times. But then I remember that some "big" things that need changing either can't be changed or are very hard to change, or there is insufficient information with which to make a change. Whereas some "little" things that get changed instead of "big" things may be relatively easy to accomplish. These folks don't have unlimited time on their hands, so they get done what they can. After all, they don't get paid much.
