Lol youve been playing for months and you are still a fucking newb.
The quest takes many hours from start to finish. Anybody with the exclusion of melees can farm 5k in a fraction of the time.
No traveling, no maintaining factions, no farming rare drops and doing turn-ins. Just farm seafuries for couple hours.
The more you know

I've been playing for years, actually.
Anyone that has 5K to spend on a Raincaller is most likely twinking a ranger. Which means they have a caster main. Which means they can camp the golden-haired mermaid in a few hours with a friend or two. That is the most difficult part of the quest.
The rest is just some back and forth between Freeport and Ak'anon, grabbing some pubes off gorillas in CT, turning in lanterns to Jyle until they get a wooden heart, buying a Trueshot for 400pp, and 3000gp for the turn-in.
Which means either the mermaid hair is worth 4K+, or the Trueshot is severely undervalued. I'm going with the latter, since the Trueshot takes much more time, is much more tedious (ever camp microservos?), and requires a fairly high fletching skill to have a chance of success.
The ridiculous amounts of ire and name-calling being tossed my way by you and the godfather of the P99 economy himself, neither of whom are the seller of this particular Raincaller, tells me right away that it's overpriced, otherwise you wouldn't be so nervous about me pointing out a few details about the quest and disagreeing with you about how difficult the quest is. After all, if the quest truly were that difficult, a caster would still be like "F that" and pay the 5-7K anyway he got from the seafuries. Instead, I stirred up a hornet's nest... interesting.
But you're right... it's worth whatever some caster with loads of plat to shell out is willing to pay, I suppose. I'm just a f'n newb, what do I know?
