Ok. You said that people committed such atrocities because of there religious indoctrination. The problem is that the example you gave of Jim Jones and Jonestown is a bit of a conundrum. Even though Jones teachings were presented as religious in nature, his driving force for his ideals was quite obviously Marxism, which is not a religious concept, but a secular one. Therefore its hard to draw a hard line in your example that you cited that it was caused by religion. Since the fact remains that Jones himself was a Marxist, and it was the driving force behind his teachings. Does it make more sense to you now?
