My friend Molly is about 5'4" and weighs approximately 300 pounds, maybe even more. She also runs a day care center for inner city kids and is the most brilliant musician I've ever known. She has a voice like no one I've known well, teaches advanced jazz in the evening and fronts a kids' band for which she is also the primary songwriter.
She might be pretty if she weighed 120 or 130, but instead she's just fat and shapeless. If I judged her on her appearance, I would never have known one of my most remarkable friends.
Luckily for me, most people are shallow and judgmental, so I get to call Molly one of my dear friends.
