One thing I will totally agree on with the OP is this "not classic" nonsense is ridiculous. Here are some non classic things we deal with every day on R99:
1. Non classic resists (not even f'ing CLOSE)
2. Items aren't rechargable
3. Golem wands
4. Tstaff procs
5. Necro/SK lifetaps not healing for full
5. Somewhere between 1/4th and 1/8th the population of a live server
6. General ruleset: no +/- 4 PVP server w/ no item loot in this era, etc
7. PNP rules enforced
8. Exp bonus
9. MOST IMPORTANTLY....2+ years in Kunark isn't classic.
The reason that the majority of those differences exist? Because it makes this server playable. Throwing out any idea on the grounds of not classic is just dumb.

10. Global OOC = not classic
11. Item Links = not classic
12. User Interface = not classic
13. Windowed Mode = not classic
14. Alliance being resisted = not classic
I'm sure there is much more, let's keep this list going.
