Casters don't need much help really. While my wizard couldn't quad, I managed to level to 49 nearly naked before all the changes, a lot of it solo. Necros can literally play naked and still be really decent.
If you're playing as a duo, a monk/shaman, necro/shaman, enchanter/cleric, mage/mage combo could all be really good.
Don't worry about what's "needed", half of the people leveling clerics at the moment probably rolled one for that reason... and while you can never have too many clerics, there's never enough dps in the groups I've been in recently
