Where does it say that ninja looting entails taking an item after looting rights from the corpse goes public? That sounds like whoever killed the mob is allowing the item to rot.

Yeah except it never went public: the items on the corpse belonged to BDA until the corpse disapeared.
If after the kill BDA simply ported out of Neriak, leaving it there abandoned, then yes in that case it would have been fine to loot.
But they were all standing there, around it, and Saraya happened to be the one getting it .01s after it unlocked by spam clicking.
The fact that you can't clearly see it's ninja-looting is mind-boggling.
