"Some guy in Alabama got shot by two weasely meth fucks who were waiting in the bushes outside of his house" probably wouldn't make national news. When the cops figure out who did it, it may be like "oh yeah, this guy was kind of internet famous for being a jackoff" but I doubt even then it'll get any kind of traction. It'll spread by word of mouth for a few months at least before it gets back to us.
