Another interesting thing about Lenski's study is that the evolutionary path was the same taken over different samples that had no contact. If I remember correctly. Showing - there is a tendency for evolution to follow a specific path given the same environmental variables. It is not really random chance. Initially biologists thought that mutations were completely random. Lenski's experiments did not reinforce this theory.

This further reinforces the theory that if there were two identical earths. Species would all have morphologically similar traits on both earths. At the same rate of evolution. Further reinforcing that if there were other earth like planets. The likely hood of intelligent hominid life that has similar senses and communication methods is increased.
