If you're high enough level you can charm a Revenant (pretty sure thats the Erudite Ghost that isn't a Shadowknight), but you really have to be higher in the 50s to do so reliably. You also make sure the mob isn't high enough level to summon you - some are, some aren't. Also, it is very difficult to make it to the undead tower solo even if you drop into the pit because on the walk up to the undead tower camp from the pit you will encounter many rock golems and other mobs.
There are some pathing Erudite ghosts that will spawn in the City, but its also pretty much impossible to make it that deep from the actual entrance solo because you won't find an undead pet until then. There aren't that many undeads in the Hole until you make it down to the undead tower. Theres also the problem of the phantom cleric who CHs through walls in the city, which complicates killing mobs even more.
If you're with a good crew of 3 or 4, you can charm an undead pet when you get to the city then you'll have a lot of fun. You really won't be able to make it to the undeads solo, however.
