RD was always built with the goal of being able to do big things in Velious. That didn't mean Vulak'Aerr necessarily, but it did mean some of the easier NToV dragons, WToV, Dain, etc. That required a raid force of 40 at a bare minimum of perfect class composition, 55~ ideally. Unfortunately, when Azrael decided it would return / unretire or whatever you would like to call it, that removed the majority of 60's from Red Dawn. That by itself wouldn't have necessarily been awful, if not for the fact we had lost members previously due to our merging / alliance with them, and then a week later the removal the exp bonus. That essentially killed our ability to recruit fresh blood to build with. This led to the level 60's in the guild getting tired of waiting for all the new players to level up, and one by one taking the easier road to fun mass pvp and pixels.

If I thought there was a chance that RD and AZ could have worked together in Velious to down PVE raid targets, I would of stuck it out. Unfortunately, there was no chance of that ever happening. The two guilds had completely different philosophies. One was a guild with a PVE focus to kill big dragons, the other was a guild built upon denying Nihilum dragons. My opinion is that such a philosophy is unsustainable in Velious, and that this will become a one guild server again. I don't think that's optimal for the server, but I did my best to change that, brought a lot of new people here, and once Red Dawn hit a wall, I didn't think it was right to keep people hanging around out of pure loyalty to the tag. I'd rather let them go join Az or Nilly and enjoy the game.
