If every parent did this...violent crimes would plummet in a generation.
But if that happened, then counties and cities wouldnt have an endless stream of revenue making government bloated and rich so no "authority" figure is going to tell you to do this...as they depend on dumb people being violent to ensure their jobs.

Very well, but what it *sounds* like you're implying is that kids who get/got spankings when they were young are all the violent criminals that are roaming the streets or locked up right now...
...while actually, the one thing that most male convicts serving time right now have in common is: They grew up without a father in the home.
I don't know how it is where you are or how you grew up, but around here it's usually the father that disciplines the children in the home (and usually the one to give spankings). So in short, was I "scared" of my father tearing my ass up if I did something I knew I shouldn't as a child? Of course...if I didn't get out of line it was because I knew what would be waiting for me afterwords.
