Their kids are also the most ill-behaved little heathens I've ever seen too, with no respect for their parents at all. Then again, I can't blame them...haven't met a kid yet that was scared of "time out".

Some kids are just bastards. It might be because they're too intelligent to be controlled by empty threats, or not intelligent enough to understand that they aren't the center of the universe. It's cool if you don't want to spank your kid, but don't let your miniature jerk wagon run a muck in public until you figure out how to control it.
