I'm not sure where you got the impression the United States of America was any more "free" than countries like Germany, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, or Sweden. Is it because of our constitution? Theirs are pretty much the same. Is it because you think we have superior economic/social mobility here? We don't.
The one freedom you have here, that you don't quite have in those other advanced countries, is the freedom to die of disease because you can't afford treatment, or maybe to die of complications during childbirth.
