This is unclear.
Pets will break mez if:
You set it to attack, and it is then mezzed.
The mob AEs - or otherwise attacks the pet - it and then its target is killed without the controller backing it to clear its aggro.*
Pets will not:
Be commanded to attack a mezzed mob.
Long story short, watch AE casters, obviously don't screw with a mob in the brief moment a poorly played enchanter or bard drops a mez, and JFSJLFKSD use assist if you're silly enough to group as a pet class.
Key mechanic - your pet is an npc with an aggro list that you can clear by hitting back.
*This is where most of the rage comes from. Fun fact - this thread pops up every couple weeks.
