I've never had a problem as enchanter personally. I might just be more open to running around doing nothing productive some days as a way to chill out after a hard work week.

I always kept anon off on my enc unless I was raiding, including into the pop era when bugging geared enchanters for KEI was a thing. I figured it was an opportunity cost of sorts... never know who you'll meet if you allow for it.
Plus where I was there were a number of fairly successful pickup raids. Having anon on may have prevented ever getting an invite, and on a number of those raids I got a chance to snag things my guild had missed in progression.
