So keeping in mind that everyone's definition of obscure and science fiction are quite different, heres some movies!
The Man From Earth (2007) - I think this film is just incredible. It is more interesting, engaging, and thought provoking than 99% of movies and it essentially takes place in 1 room. It's just a good story, a good script, and good acting.
Pandorum (2009) - This movie is a lot like alien, a futuristic sci fi horror type of film. It has greats sets and practical effects and such ( I'm a sucker for that stuff ) over all a really cool film that most people don't seem to know about? question mark?
The Black Hole (1979) - To me this is obscure because I never heard about it until 2013 lol. The film was made by Disney ( so it's gotta be good right? ) The story is pretty much 20,000 leagues under the sea, but in space. Once again, very cool visuals and sets and miniatures and all that stuff ( and music! ).
Primer (2004) - This is a cool time travel film that was made with $7,000 I believe. The writing and the story kept me watching it, again more interesting than most big budget movies imo.
The Prestige (2006) - I'd probably call this a drama or mystery movie but it's got science fiction elements, and David Bowie,.. so I'm putting it in here! This is one of my most favorite movies ever, I think it's just incredible. It's a Victorian period ( I think ) story about two rival magicians. Its a Christopher Nolan film ( his best one imo ) so I'm surprised that I have never heard anyone mention it, ever..... so watch it!
