Is there anything "extra" to make anyone want to roll a paladin in Velious?

My own take on it (Paladin being my favorite EQ class) amounts to this: If you already like the Paladin, Velious makes your life somewhat better due to various detail improvements. If you're not a Paladin enthusiast, there's still precious little reason to play one, particularly at very high levels. Fundamentally they have the same role as always and (outside a modest hit point buff) still lack much of a purpose in raids. I have several of them on my account, including my forum namesake, but I don't really plan on taking any of them all the way to 60. There's not a lot of undead in Velious, and lots of stun-immune creatures (giants, etc). I'd still rather use my Shadow Knight for maximum level content and keep my Paladins as alts for various level ranges where the class is in its element.
Of the hybrids, I'd say Rangers gain the most from Velious. Bards are highly useful already during Kunark, and Shadow Knights are at least serviceable. Rangers and Paladins both fare poorly during Kunark but Rangers proportionally gain more than Paladins do with Velious.
