Zero.
Kickstarter is a GIANT scam. The name of the game? "I want to raise funds without giving up equity stake". It's crowdsourcing angel investment without giving up anything beyond some trinkets/novelties.
P99 supporting it just blows my mind. Unlike P99, Pantheon is a FOR-PROFIT gaming venture - they're going into business to MAKE MONEY. Why people pay money up front for small gifts instead of actual equity is mind-blowingly crazy.
Now mainstream Hollywood is doing it too. Boo hoo, we only have collectively billions of dollars how can we FUND THIS MOVIE? I know, we'll get 'fans' to shill out millions of dollars for no promise of equity and we'll reward them with a MOVIE POSTER AND A TICKET TO THE MOVIE YEAH!!!!!!
Scam scam scam I hate kickstarter and everything it embodies. I love programs that crowd source actual investment (KIVA) with returns because it allows people to be backed appropriately at an appropriate return rate. Giving cold hard cash for incidentals is akin to donating to NPR or PBS - $50 gets you this tote bag! Atleast NPR and PBS are public nonprofit entities, however.
Yes, I mad.

I can see your point, however I have supported a couple kickstarters and I'm not bothered by it. Of course, the amount I support is equal to what I believe the 'incidentals' i'll receive are worth.
I supported
https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/. I pledged $25 which gets me a digital copy of the game when it releases and I helped ensure a game that I wanted to get made, gets made. Worth it to me.
Now with some things I can see it being a total rip off if you pledge large sums of money. Those are becoming incidental and is indicative of the true flaws with kickstarters. Unless something is hugely popular and can garner small donations from many thousands of individuals then the only way to get large funding is to have a relatively small number of people make very large donations.
