If you are a vet/neckbeard, then you should have a ton of DKP from attending raids. Which you can either save or spend your DKP however you see fit.
I'll give you two real world examples using our two loot systems.
Red Dawn:
You work at your job and you save your money. You go on Ebay and outbid the other people for a new computer with the money that you earned, the computer arrives in the mail.
Nihilum:
You work at your job and you save your money. You go on Ebay, you outbid the other people for a new computer with the the money that you earned, but the guy selling it decides that someone else with less to bid with deserves it more than you for one reason or another. Better luck next time.
