firebolt and frostbolt were the coolest particle effects in the game IMO. I used to love to use it on pvp servers because in nektulos forest you could be out of visual range and still hit the target (provided a tree or mob wasn't in the way). The de-leveled pricks used to get furious at my fireballz hahaha

Yes archery was line of sight, too. I think even in Kunark it was LOS cuz I remember a ranger in karnor's complaining for us to move out of the way so he could get a shot.
