I'm not really sure what the fix was, however the things I
didn't do in my previous install attempts were (from your tutorial) steps #13,14 and in place, of your recommended, WS9Wine1.7.8; I had used engine WS8WineCXG10.3.0.
It may have been as simple as changing the engine to the newest version (per Mavericks requirements?). However, like I mentioned my previous post, I couldn't actually open the wrapper successfully (without getting App Error -10810) until I restarted in safe boot mode and then back to normal.
