I personally was never a fan of the Playstation era Final Fantasy games because they felt way too linear and where just bloated with cutscenes. (I did however love the old 8-bit and 16-bit ones. I also enjoy the Tactics series, not as an RPG of course, but just in general)
I'm too lazy to think of 5 better RPGs for the PS2 from 95-05 but here is a pretty good list to go by is somebody else wants to give it a whirl:

In any case, you are no less correct for liking FF7 than I am for not liking it. This is just an opinion poll after all.
