I like the thunder sounds, it's just too frequent. There are no quiet rumbles it's always a large strike. It would be cool to update the sounds with better ambient loops. Maybe some birds in forests, owls at night, seagulls at ports etc.

Seagulls and Owls weren't invented until at least 2004, so nope.
I didn't see a Seagull in person until at least 2007, but there's still some IRL screenshots floating around the web from 2004-2005 so we know they were put in sometime around then.
