Yeah, alter that profile big time. Remove any pic with anime in it. It will just scare people off. The vast majority of Americans don't understand the fascination with anime. They just see it as cartoon porno, so when they see anime posters and you wearing that shirt (oh god, remove that shirt), they say "this is what he is openly adminitting, what is he hiding?"
The idea is to get them involved enough with who you are, so that you can ease them into things that culture as a whole finds weird later on. It is possible to find younger people that love anime a lot, but those relationships are usually fleeting. Young people get around, ya know?
