Abused in the tunnels!!
I arrived to play this morning, ran through the tunnels, took up position to offer ports. There is a druid there whose name I shall refrain from announcing. I generated my -- much shortened message -- to announce I'm offering ports. I don't ever mention money, most people are generous, which for me is nice. Some just say they are too poor. I don't push. Consider this though, I stand there for hours in that spot, sometimes without anyone coming along. Don't ask me why I do this -- we all enjoy different things. To me porting is part of the pleasure of playing.
Today, however, without warning, my tell window pops up and I find the aforementioned druid swearing at me! He asked me if I'm "****** for real". I wasn't even aware of this thread at that point. I asked him what his problem was and he logged.
Really, I'm astonished. Some people have too much time on their hands. Pay or don't pay. It's your choice -- that easy.
I often port folks for very little money and for free. Some tip me well. I do consider people who expect me to stand there for free whilst they level to be rude, though normally I would never say so. Some ports involve me hunting for bat wings to levitate people, they involve me running people through CT into Feerot. Sometimes I have to cross 3 zones to pickup a level one. When I'm busy with ports, I spend ages just looking at a loading screen. Some ports take 15-20 mins to sort out. Low level folks sometimes die, and I feel responsible and try to help. It's work!
Most folks really appreciate my efforts. Clearly some don't. Those who don't can take a hike as far as I'm concerned.
