I figured out how to fix this finally, for me at least! So what I did was right clicked my custom shortcut to launch p1999 and went to properties, Compatibility tab, then Check box run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (service pack 2), I also check the box Run this program as Administrator. I hope this works for you. If you do not have a custom short cut browse to your game directory and find eqgame.exe and right click and find send to -> desktp create shortcut. Make sure to right click the new shortcut and add the word patchme to the target line under the shortcut tab at the end of the quotes for me it looks like this
"D:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme
Then do the above to that shortcut and no more crashes! Also it loads a lot faster now. Hope this finally helps everyone. I also believe running in XP compatibility mode makes the game run on 1 core and thus solves the crashing issues, also you only have to apply this once and your good to go unless you reformat your PC or re install the game.
