Comparing current day TMO to DA or old TMO is totally pointless though, the similarities are few and far between. The overwhelming majority of modern TMO was never in DA or old TMO. The current raid guilds and tactics are a product of everything getting more and more ridiculous on the long term.

Don't really have an argument, I just find it annoying when people don't even know where this all came from. Shit, I've known Zeelot, Loly, Necrious and Fazlazen since long before most (probably 90+%) of today's FE or TMO ever killed a dragon on P99, and all four of them have been around significantly longer than I have.

Gil spouting off irrelevant "facts" and even inaccurate "facts" is beyond stupid. Since the inception of this emu, guilds have been merging and absorbing other guilds. It's pointless to act like it's any different when TMO did so with DA, when before them DA absorbed 3/4 of Wrathful Inquisition while IB absorbed the other quarter. When that wasn't enough, they (IB) tried to absorb even more guilds (Transcendence). And this was still happening (albeit on a smaller scale) beforehand, pre-Sky. Shit is classic. Obviously these guilds' forces were bolstered and probably directly lead to more successful raids, hence the reason for doing so in the first place. Just how it plays out and the majority of any successful raiding guild on this server has been apart of it to some extent.
