Maybe it's for another reason than you're implying. Some girls really find it annoying to be called "bro" or "dude" all the time. If it were reversed would you want people to assume you're a girl when you aren't?

Haha, I've played with tons of women in various MMOS and none of them would be going into the forums to proclaim loudly how they REALLY ARE A REAL GIRL! The only ones that do that are the attention whores and I'll happily make fun of them no matter what their gender is. In my experience it is actually quite rare for a woman in an MMO to get offended by someone sayins 'guys' etc.
