This is why these kinds of projects should always be open source.
Otherwise, it hinges on some unstable guy who is prone to taking his proverbial ball and going home when someone calls him a "gosh darn jerk" on the forums.
Still, I can't deny that Yeahlight's work was meticulous. He was very close to coding a perfectionist's recreation of EQ and the classic client down the last detail. That said, I never once thought it was anything but vaporware.
