Throw out any of the crap about starting areas, exp penalty, leveling or any of that. Eventually none of that will matter.
Only one shaman race has an ability that cannot be duplicated by any item or spell, frontal stun immunity. When it really comes down to it, you're weighing stun immunity vs. regeneration and I will take stun immunity over extra regen every time.
