Yeah this is a classic case of staff emotional blowup. Everyone either has to calmly agree with the lead GM (like you see in this thread so far) or face the possibility of being banned by someone whose lost the ability to be a leader and has simply thrown down an emotional gauntlet to try and gain respect. The thread wreaks of immaturity, especially considering he locks/deletes other threads that had discussion. It's basically akin to the kid in the neighborhood who would bring his football over to play with the rest of the kids, get mad, and run home with the ball.

How can a player base possibly have a legitimate discussion when the head staff member throws tantrums on the forums when the structure of his server policy is picked apart for 2 pages in one thread and he gets super emotional? Reminds me of the LAST GM.

Why don't you just post a list of rules that players are to follow and the consequences of breaking them, and follow through - or don't have rules at all, it worked with SZ. Instead you play this game of making rules up on the spot or having rules that apply "occassionally" or "most of the time" with differing penalties and no transparency, and then you cry foul when you get called on it. The staff here has had 2 years to make policy and stick to it, instead you've spent 2 years pointing the finger at the users and deleting posts/threads and banning posters on the forums to cover your mistakes.

Try having meaningful discussion instead of throwing a cryfit like this thread.
I think its pretty straight forward. It is also what people have been asking for on these forums. The only criticism will come if these harsh punishments aren't distributed fairly among both sides. How many threads have you seen lately talking about how unfair it is that people train, box, etc. with minimum or no punishments.

Sirken is basically saying that instead of you guys all petitioning him every 5 minutes they are going to start banning people. Obviously the ones that have been caught breaking the rules lately don't mind the punishment enough to stop doing it, so the punishment is becoming more severe to try to cut down on the work load for Sirken and other staff.

I can't imagine all the whining petitions the GMs have to go through on a daily basis from the same 20 people.

The one suggestion that does make sense is making a list of things that you can be banned for. If you want a short general list until this gets done, since it may never get done, let me help you out a bit.

1) Don't train
2) Don't 2+ box
3) Don't refer to real life when trolling/talking shit in game
4) Don't RMT
5) Don't exploit

Many things fall into the exploiting category including crap like dispelling people outside of your pvp range. I for one think exploiting should be allowed The more it is used the more motivation the GMs have to actually fix it. If you don't want people moving mobs or dispelling people out of their range then hard code it and fix it. Otherwise there will always be people getting away with it, which in turn brings the inevitable drama of favoritism once people get banned.
