This phenomenon continues to this day. A TON of imbeciles roll rangers because they want to be as cool as Legolas. The same is true of the hunter class in WoW, the hunter class (obviously) in LotRO, the archer classes in DAoC, etc.
Add this to the fact that several rangers on P99 are trying to play the class the same way they played it in 2005...
Truth is, there is no such thing as a bad ranger. Just bad players, the majority of which have multiple alts on which they equally suck. Having said that, if you come across a wood elf ranger named Legolias, Legolasx, Lagolass, or any douchey variation thereof, just know they WILL try to tank, they WILL need on everthing that drops, and they DO have aspirations of plundering Will Turner's booty.

Wrong. Ranger bashing occurred loooooong before the LOTR movies came out. In 2001, the popular saying was "Ranger down!" due to the fact that Rangers
always seemed to die during Kael raids.
