Australia was barely populated in 1850, while Great Britain was pumping out tonnes of smog during the industrial revolution.
London was rated one of the dirtiest cities in Europe about 10 years ago, and the buildings reflected the air pollution of the city.
If you really want to get away from all the smog, you need to get away from countries/areas where there's serious overpopulation (Great Britain, and England particularly is one of them).
Problem with moving to Australia? There's the absence of an ozone layer in part of it...enjoy having the sun but not being able to safely bask in it
