This was Sullon Zek .... training was an art. Plus, it wasn't uncommon to have 50 vs 50 fights between guilds.
Regarding Smedy's comment ... he is absolutely right. Luclin started the downfall of EQ pvp but PoP killed it. All the safe zones directly connected to raid targets was terrible for PvP. Plus on SZ, you could sit in PoT and rez box train with a bard/cleric and pretty much shut down a guild with 2/3 people.
Luclin though, at least for SZ, really messed things up because of AA's. If you weren't on the evil team, you only had 1 insta-gib, manaburn. Evils had manaburn, lifeburn, and deathtouch. Pretty balanced imo. (Not so sure if it was luclin that introduced these insta-kills, been too long)
